Pedro An Andalusian sculpted and painted by Deborah McDermott
Pedro stands 4 1/4" high, approximately little bit scale. Pedro is entirely hand painted with many thin layers of acrylic paints, pastels and colored pencils. Unison pastels help to give rich coloring and depth to his coat while colored pencils pick up the finest details and textures. I have spent months taking my time with this horse to give him the finest detailing I possibly could. I am finally happy with his finish.
This stallion is dark sooty bay just starting to go grey. He has a dorsal stripe and some faint leg barring. Pedro does not have the dun factor, in his case these markings may be associated with the greying gene and/or his sootiness. He is very subtly dappled throughout his coat. Some of the dappling is only visible if the light hits his coat in a certain way.
The eyes are my very favorite part of this horse. I like to let an individual personality take shape while I'm working. At some point the sculpture takes on a look of its own and I just go with it. Painting Pedro's eyes seems to have given him an added intelligence and a life of his own.
Pedro is available.
